Cute Apple Commercial

If you have the bandwidth (or patience) check out the new ad from Apple plugging their 12 and 17 inch PowerBook line. (Quicktime 5 required)

We had another 4 inches of snow drop on Milford overnight. Amazingly the Milford school system did not have a 2 hour start delay. I was happy that at least it was enough snow to bother starting the snow blower. I hate it when we just get an inch or less. "A dusting" as it's often referred to.

Now that we're down to the last month of pregnancy, Michelle is in that "I wish this were over" phase. The new baby seems to be continuously tap dancing pressing on her bladder.

The Internet was buzzing yesterday with all the new Apple announcements. What struck me was that Apple seems to be more and more emphasizing open source development. They integrated the Linux oriented open source KHTML web browser into the Mac and are feeding their changes back into the open source public domain. They optimized the open X Window Server for Mac and fed the changes back into public domain. This is a clear contrast to the Microsoft "open source is evil" mantra. Another shot across Microsoft's bow is the release of a new presentation tool, Keynote, that is a direct competitor to the de facto PowerPoint. It looks very slick compared to most PowerPoint presentations I've seen. There was a lot of discussion on the Apple announcements over on Slashdot. My favorite comment was here.
