"Here comes a mousie"

Posted by Scott at 05:09 PM

Moms lovable rhyme she sings to the kids before tickling them, it plays such a role in my life today.

Being the light sleeper that I am, I was woken up by the tinniest noise by my headboard at 6:30am. I paniked for a while, thinking there was a racoon or squirrel in my room. After building up the guts to run accross my room and turn on a light, I found my new friend. A little black mouse. It's currently 3:30pm here. He is still trapped between my dresser and a shoebox until I can get Seth over.

In other news, Seth won free passes to see the new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". That will be our romantic date tonight (hey, its free!!). Last night we went to a local bar because Seven Mary Three was playing there. They were a band that was pretty popular when we were about 15. They kind of fell of the face of the earth for a while but recently put out a new album and played at a college bar. They did play some of their 'old' songs and that was good since thats why I went.

This weekend I go home to RG. I am Ben Bilik's confirmation sponsor so I have to be there for the big event. I am so excited to get to do this! I had to write him a sappy letter for his last class, which probably embarrassed him. Either way, I'm sure Sunday will be really nice!

Nothing else. I have a lot of homework this weekend. It's kind of stressing me out. Maybe my mouse friend will do some for me.

I remember back in our home in Nashua there were two consecutive mornings that we woke up to the sounds of the cats scrambling around our bedroom. I think after the "neighborhood mice" found out about (then) Cali and George, they decided to move on to other homes.

The creepiest thing was one morning we woke up and found (I'm not making this up) a dead bat hanging upside down from one of our curtain rods. At first we weren't sure if it was just sleeping, hibernating, or ...

I had to get a shoebox, scoop it off, and throw it out in the conservation land. I almost get jittery just thinking back about it. A bat isn't probably any worse than a mouse but in our culture, it was ... creepy!

Have a nice weekend in RG. Sorry I have to steal mom from you again. I didn't want Michelle to go insane while I was in Santa Cruz. When you get to RG, you can always give a call here and use mom and dad's long distance. ;-P Hope you enjoyed the recent photo albums.

I think I might have passed out if I found a bat! We have been chasing the mouse around and we can't catch it. Last night I slept on the couch because I had a hard time not feeling creeped out in my room. But, I still had dreams about the mouse. I'm such a wuss!

No problem taking Mom. I just wish I was going with her! Atleast I'll get to see her for a moment tonight when I get home.

Who is that?

At first I thought it was more SPAM. I did get a piece of comment SPAM yesterday. Man! Even after I tried to make things non-standard. The spam was for a drug supplier. These guys are so lame. I deleted it as soon as I could.

But no, this person actually has a "bilik" website. From a little bit of research it seems that there is a large city in China called Kashgar/Kashar with over 2000 years of history. At some point they had a famous poet named Yusuf Has Hajip who wrote a poem entitled "Kut-adku Bilik(The Knowledge of Happiness)."

So from what I can tell, the person who made this comment has a website (or websites) where he uses the title of that poem -- hence the name Bilik. What I'd like to know is: does 'Bilik' imply knowledge or happiness? ;-)

His/Her main website is at: http://bilik.jahee.com/ The non-English portion seems to be a traditional weblog, but unfortunately I can't read a word of it. The english portion is a nifty flash plugin that's something like a guest book.

The down side is that I don't keep permanant links to other websites on the front page like I used to. I found them to be a waste of bandwidth. The stuff on the front page is all dynamic: the recent posts, the calendar and upcoming events, the weather forecasts, the recent comments, recent webpages I've found interesting, etc. Come back two weeks later and it's all different. If you want people to visit your site regularly, it has to have new content. Not the same stuff you had last month.

Perhaps I'll email him/her and ask for more info...
