Tyranny

Posted by Scott at 04:19 PM

C.S. Lewis - I saw this quote by author C.S. Lewis and just wanted to make sure I had it handy for the future. It sounds like a few governments I know.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Almost sounds like a Chesterton quote.

While researching the quote later, I found another priceless one by him:

There will be two kinds of people in the end: Those that will say to God 'Thy will be done' and those to whom God will say 'Thy will be done.'
