Snow Day

Posted by Scott at 06:33 AM

School - I can't believe it. During this entire school vacation week, not an inch of snow fell. A week ago we got half an inch of ice which melted away within 24 hours. This morning the Nor'easter storm dominated the local news. It started around midnight and will finish up around the time the kids would ordinarily get off the bus at the end of the school day. From the kids' point of view, it couldn't be better timed. It's the kind of storm where I thought the WMUR closings listings would be shorter if they just listed what schools are still open.

On the bright side anticipation of a snow day causes about as much prayer in children as math tests. *grin*

Work - I'll be working from home today because timing of the storm. The effects appear to be worse as you head south towards my Massachusetts office. There will probably be a lot of coworkers who use the corporate VPN. I hope it can handle the bandwidth surge. Luckily our office has some fat bandwidth pipes.

Upside - So what are the positives of this storm? Michelle also gets a teaching break today. Whenever the Merrimack schools are closed, she doesn't have to teach her Merrimack Step aerobics class. The same is not true at our local Milford Golds. Also our back yard sledding hill gets a fresh coating after it became half bare during last week's melting.

Plan - I'll need to get started on clearing around 2pm today. Claire has an orthodontist appointment in the late afternoon so the driveway needs to be cleared by then. Looking at the teeth of Claire, Abigail, Michael and Daniel, I wish the orthodontist had bulk rate discounts...
