Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:33 PM

A belated good morning! I'm just back from an advanced Step & abs class. Claire is on her way to sing with her school choir. The younger ones have broken out "Big Brain Academy" for the Wii on this TS Ida rainy day. Might take 'em swimming later... 11:08am

Got the girls their Christmas gifts 41 days early: 2 round trip tickets to Indianapolis so that they can enjoy their holiday time with their cousins. 1:29pm

While Michelle & the girls went Christmas shopping, I took the boys swimming at the YMCA. 4:36pm

After a required but long Wii system update, I bought "Frogger Returns" from the WiiWare store. First up to try it: Timothy! 4:53pm

Watching "Nanny McPhee" with the family. [ABC Family channel]. 7:42pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Radio Shack’s TRS-80 Computer Is the Smartest Way to Write
Comment: More retro geekery. Isaac Asimov, Radio Shack's SuperSCRIPSIT™ for word processing, “I may never use a typewriter again!”
Excerpt: Our word processing system changed Isaac Asimov’s mind about writing-and he’s a renowned science and science fiction author! But you don’t have to be an author to use a TRS-80. If you prepare memos, letters and reports-do what Isaac did. It will change your mind, too.

The Original Macintosh on the cover of Byte (Feb-1984)
Comment: It's so weird to read this on my MacBook, the great great grandson of this model that started it all 25+ years ago. Now so much lighter, more powerful, etc. Also in this issue, the Apple Lisa 2, which quickly fizzled.

Liberal Media ‘Whitewashed’ Evils of Communism, New Study Documents
Comment: And every time I talk with someone who immigrated from an Eastern Bloc country, I get reminded of how much we should be grateful for here in the USA.
Excerpt: “Communism was a blight on humanity for much of the 20th century. Even Hitler's Holocaust pales next to the 100 million people killed by communist dictators in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Yet our report shows many in the liberal media had a blind spot to this evil ideology,”

Frogger Returns
Comment: Buying/downloading this for Michelle and the kids later this afternoon. (a WiiWare download). Michelle was a big time Frogger junkie.
