Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:02 PM

Good morning! Ready to start another work week? It's a typical busy Monday morning here. I have to get all the kids to their schools and Michelle heads into Merrimack to kick the glutes of her aerobimommy groupies. I'll be VPN'd into work all day. Later today: next winter's wood delivery. 6:21am

Kidlets all at school now. Michelle's at the gym. I'm getting ready to Seize the Day™ (with apologies to Gus Lloyd). I wonder how long the email backlog is this morning... 8:57am

Just took delivery of 6000 pounds of wood fuel for next winter. I always find it a bit funny getting new heating fuel when summer hasn't even started. Yet this is the time it's usually its cheapest. 11:52am

I'm on yet another conference call with San Diego. Michelle is at Nashua Radiation Oncology getting her daily zapping. I could go for some coffee. Who's with me? 1:50pm

Refreshing my brain about cube mapping. Wikipedia it. I don't like to think about such things as 5 o'clock approaches. 4:44pm

Back from a great Step circuit class. Just what I needed to snap out of the doldrums of working indoors on such a sunny day. Ready for some dinner now... 7:08pm

I got my boys tucked in bed. My wife and daughters (can I just say 'my girls'?) are watching "Dancing w/the Stars". I'm going to study for a bit and get some sleep. Good night all! 8:40pm

Bookmarks I made today:

It's sex o'clock in America
Comment: I don't think I ever expected Raquel Welch to write an article like this...
Excerpt: "If an aging sex symbol like me starts waving the red flag of caution over how low moral standards have plummeted, you know it's gotta be pretty bad. In fact, it's precisely because of the sexy image I've had that it's important for me to speak up and say: Come on girls! Time to pull up our socks! W...

HP webOS “Hurricane” slate tipped with ambitious release rumors
Comment: Rumors from Q3 to the end of 2010 abound. Still I'd like to see the competition in the upcoming year. WebOS is actually a pretty nice embedded OS but unfortunately since it came out after iPhoneOS and Android, it's getting little buzz.
Excerpt: HP’s tablet plans are prompting numerous rumors at the moment, and as with the best speculation they’re glibly ignoring what’s likely in favor of what’s exciting.

Bringing Cancer to the Dinner Table: Breast Cancer Cells Grow Under Influence of Fish Flesh
Comment: It goes on to say, "It remains unclear exactly what estrogen-mimicking chemicals were actually present in the fish and what kind of cancer-causing role they might have. But their effects on the fish themselves were clear: the gender of nine of the fish could not be determined." Creepy. Funny how when environmentalists talk about endocrine disrupters, they rarely mention The Pill.
Excerpt: "Sewage might be more responsible for putting estrogenic chemicals in the water than the industries alone," Volz adds. "All of the hormone replacement products that women use go down the drain, along with birth control pills, antibacterial soaps, and many of the plastics we use, like Bisphenol A, ha...
