A Gorgeous Work from Home Day

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

A belated good morning! I dropped the girls off at their schools and returned home to work from my home desk today. Yesterday's hours at oncology and radiology put me behind a bit and I'm trying to play a bit of catch up today. 10:53am

AMD's second Fusion CPU gives glimpse at future of CPU/GPU - via Ars Technica. As pioneers in single chip CPU/GPU solutions in the mobile space with the Qualcomm SnapDragon line, I'm always interested in following the developments of my peers and old friends "upstairs" who work in the laptop/desktop/server domain with similar work. Many of my lunch buddies have been working on this for quite some time. 10:57am

It makes me happy to see and hear Michelle outside on this gorgeous morning working in the yard: taking care of the flower beds, fertilizing the trees, etc. Keep on enjoying life while engaged in the battle. You will win it! 11:12am

Cloud Music Comparison: What’s the Best Service for Streaming Your Library Everywhere? The answer: it depends. I love the competition in this space: Apple, Google, Amazon, Rdio, etc. 11:20am

Took Michelle out for a late lunch at Cafe on the Oval. Decided to try Poutine for the first time and liked it. I'd always heard good things about it from the French Canadians in the area. Swung by DFE on the way home for some iced coffees. Now back to debug... 1:45pm

After a good afternoon of bug extermination, I took a break for the 5:30pm Step 'n abs class. As I was leaving I was happy to see that Claire arrived, fresh from her piano lesson, to take the 6:30pm Pilates-Yoga class. I'm happy she's been trying out the various types of classes available. When I got back I did a little more debug and wrapped it up. Today's lunch was so heavy, I just need a small snack to tide me over tonight. 7:53pm

I saw a teaser in an IEEE email that said "Is Your Kid Jealous of Your Smartphone?" It was referring to this article. When I first read the email teaser, I thought of Timothy, who does envy my high end phone. But really what the article is about is whether juggling all of our tasks on our high end devices takes away our attention from our children. 8:07pm

Click to see the album It dawns on me that because of my brief radio silence over the weekend while waiting for pathology results, I never mentioned that I uploaded an album of photos from April through May this year. There's many pictures of the girls' spring break with the Nix girls, Timothy's first Holy Communion, Abby's birthday, a little bit of San Diego, and fun at the new Nashua YMCA. Enjoy! 8:17pm

Printing out a novena to St. Peregrine for Michelle. He is considered the Patron Saint of cancer patients because he had a miraculous curing of his own cancer in the 1300's. 8:22pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Before I go, just a bit of Dr. Who fanboy-dom. Check out this boy re-enacting one of the best speeches of season five. Good night all! Going to fall asleep to another episode of "Hot in Cleveland". It's recently become a guilty pleasure of Michelle and me. We especially like seeing Betty White's role in it. 9:23pm
