A Vanilla Day

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! We had quite the rain storm last night! Michelle left early this morning to head to the hospital. She needed to get blood taken for lab analysis in preparation for next week's surgery. 8:55am

I had a drizzly commute into Boxborough. I offered up a set of Glorious Mysteries for the first half and listened to Ubik the rest of the way. I stopped at the Littleton Dunkin Donuts as I'd forgotten to make a travel mug of coffee. 8:56am

Via iowahawkblog: “If public employees worked as hard at their jobs as they do at their tantrums, they'd be qualified to work in the private sector.” Ouch! 10:16am

Amazon link I'm ~½ way through Ubik. It's been an interesting introduction to the sci-fi writings of Philip K. Dick. 10:23am

Ordered The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom for my next audio book. 10:50am

California fell out of the top 10 states for entrepreneurs, but New Hampshire has moved into the #10 slot. Woot! (related link) 11:29am

Via linorulli: “Standard & Poors just downgraded my tweets from kinda funny to mildly amusing. I blame Obama.” 1:37pm

Interesting use of the Google Ngram Viewer: (related link) 5:42pm

Left work on the late side. It didn't matter as Michelle decided not to make reservations for our anniversary dinner. Claire and Abby have youth group tonight so no one would be home to baby sit. Listened to more of Ubik along the drive. 7:00pm

When I got home, Michelle reheated me dinner. I relaxed folding laundry and watching some shows with the boys. Just as I was about to tuck them in bed, my grandma called to talk and wish us a belated Happy Anniversary. 9:40pm

Got word of this story about an amazing treatment of Leukemia. Perhaps in the next few years we can stabilize and broaden this therapy to other forms of cancer. 9:50pm
