Spelling Bee prep

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Been a pretty vanilla morning. I dropped the girls off at their schools. I made a quick stop at Cafe on the Oval for some eggs. Listened to EWTN on the drive down to Boxborough. 10:03am

This Is Lockheed Martin’s New Amazing Fighter—But Do We Really Need It? Considering the F-22, no. 11:20am

Went with my ol' friends from AMD to Il Forno for lunch. Never a bad meal and always affordable. 1:17pm

Left work around 5:30, listening to Security Now along the drive. Saw snowflakes near the end. Daniel has been studying spelling words all afternoon, with coaching from Abby and Michelle. After dinner I got into debugging why elinks, a text mode browser, would not work correctly on Mac OSX Lion. Finally got a build together that works properly. Secret sauce: configure it with the switch “--without-zlib” or it will fail to render any sites that use compression (like bilikfamily.com) because of a bug in the current Zlib compression library. Linux saw this bug too a while back. 9:10pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Happy to get a call from Claire that she was ready to be picked up by 9:15pm. When we got home I helped her with math, dilution problems and equations of circles. Also grateful tonight for my trusty WaterPik because earlier I had one of those meals that likes to wedge in teeth. Somedays I think back to my days with braces and how much got stuck back then… Good night all! 10:01pm
