Doctor visit for the boys

Posted by Scott at 10:21 PM

The boys went for their regular checkup today. Again they got five shots! Youch! Is it just me or are we getting a bit immunization happy here?! Are the doctors getting kickbacks from all of this?! As far as vital statistics go, here is the summary. Michael is 26 3/4 inches long and weighs 16 pounds 3 ounces. Daniel is 26 1/4 inches long and weighs 16 pounds 8 ounces. Basically one is a bit taller and the other is a bit heavier.

I got surprised to find out the my Grandpa Bilik, who just celebrated his 89th birthday, is considering marrying the woman who takes care of him. Words can not express the mixed up feelings I have. The news is too new and I'm too uninformed (mainly because of distance) to make any worthwhile opinion. I hope the motives are right. I'm not one to talk about how or whether to pursue a marriage because I still don't know how to predict marital success. At the time I got married, I was concerned whether our own marriage could grow strong and last. I'm blessed that it did, considering the circumstances.

Last weekend I paid Claire's tuition to attend Infant Jesus School next year. To me it was another marker indicating that her homeschooling days will soon end as her primary means of education. I still can't help but be concerned about her transition and adjustment to institutionalized education. I have reasonable confidence that this is a good school, it's just that I've seen how little it takes to either stir her creativity and energy, and how little it takes to stifle them. I think I'm going to have to check in with her frequently to ask her how it's going during those first several months.

I had lunch with Mr. Russell and several co-workers today. Mr. Russell was on his way to a job interview today for a local company that looked promising. Afterwards I spoke with Russell and he said they made him a decent verbal offer. Ultimately it's up to him to decide if this is a good fit with his employment ideals. (environment, locality, pay, etc.) I wish him the best.

Michelle and the kids drove her folks to the airport. The folks fly back to Los Angeles this evening. Their last return flight was a nightmare. I sincerely hope this trip home is not a repeat of the last incident! We have less than a week until Alyssa, Tom, and the kids drive out to visit. I'm looking forward to taking a few days off for that visit. We plan on hitting the coast and perhaps a local amusement park. I hope their van handles the long drive without mishap. At Alyssa's insistence they are staying at the local Holiday Inn for the duration of the visit. Hey, at least it has a pool! Perhaps we'll crash their place! (grin)
