Sick twins

Posted by Scott at 11:16 PM

Both Daniel and Michael got sick today. This morning when Michelle went to get Daniel from his bed she realized he had thrown up. He did so again throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. About 3PM when Michelle was picking up Claire, both threw up... in their car seats, of course! About that time Daniel seemed to be winding down but Michael was picking up the sickness momentum. I hope it passes by tomorrow morning.

In contemplating how the birth control pill has transformed society, I've often wondered what would happen if we could chemically control our physique and metabolism. Would folks let gluttony run more rampant as we have with lust? Well, we may get to find out in our lifetime. CNN, FoxNews, and New Scientist are all reporting a Pill may someday replace exercise. I'm not exactly sure what to believe about it. First instinct: scary. The remote control and cordless phones didn't make us lazy enough...

We had beautiful weather today so again my co-workers and I had lunch in our back yard. Michelle has been using the boys' nap time to stain the back deck and side stairway. It's nearly done now and looks nice. Being that the last deck was a "real piece of work" (cheap wood, poor flashing, nails popping up) this deck was built three years ago with good flashing, pressure treated supports and UltraWood for the face boards, epoxy coated deck screws, and a boatload of concrete filled tubes going 4 feet into the ground below the frost line. It's been relatively trouble free. Heck if a tornado struck the house, that deck would still be there. Nevertheless Michelle wanted to give it some color apart from the natural gray that it got from normal weathering.

This evening we got a handful of new real estate listings to look over this weekend. I'll let you know if anything sparks our interest. If the boys are still sick, it'll really keep us from wanting to do too many drive by viewings.

Lately with all the talk of the priest scandals, folks have been looking for root causes and people to blame. I've been reading some stuff that indicates that perhaps our seminaries are intimidating devout, orthodox (little 'o') men and meanwhile advancing those who are a little more <ahem> free thinkers. *cough* *cough* So far all I've read is in real print with no online equivalent but I'll link something if I can.
