A bunch of little news

Posted by Scott at 10:11 PM

Michelle went to the hospital for a routine OB/GYN visit today. Unfortunately she didn't get in because the doctor was running behind on his appointments. Alyssa, hopefully your doctor visit today went better.

I got news today that the cofounder of (the former) VAutomation now has a new son. His wife delivered a healthy boy last Friday. Congratulations, Gregg!

Yesterday Michelle got to attend the class that she normally teaches. It was a nice change of pace to be in the passenger seat.

It looks like Chris and Katie may buy the house Katie grew up in, which is also only a handful of houses down the block from our folks home. While I'm happy for them, I can't help of think of Everybody Loves Raymond, where Ray lives across the street from his parents.

Last weekend my nephew and godson, William, turned 3 years old. Happy Birthday again, William.

Last Sunday I went to a parent meeting to prepare for Claire's First Communion. By strange coincidence, Claire's First Communion occurs the same day as Abby's birthday. Claire and I have already begun the new instruction, which is in addition to the normal CCD catechesis that I'm giving her each week.

Suzanne is taking her GRE's (graduate school exams) very soon. Best of luck, Suzy! Get some relaxation squeezed in between all the last minute cramming.

Late this morning I spoke with Gene, my business partner from my J-Squared days. We hadn't spoken in quite some time. We agreed to have lunch together and catch up later this week. He still sounds like the same ol' Gene.

Tonight I went to another monthly Opus Dei Evening of Recollection up in Manchester at St. Joseph's Cathedral.

The class warfare rhetoric is already under way regarding Bush's economic plan. Any time there's a tax cut, it's always spun as benefitting the wealthy. Well, duh! If the top 50% of incoming earning households pay 96% of the taxes, how can a tax reduction plan not favor the better off? Also roughly half the households in the US own stocks that pay dividends. How does cutting dividend taxes not help those households? For that matter, why is it I get tax breaks for debt (i.e. mortgage interest) but get penalized for modest earnings on investments? Don't we want to encourage savings and investment?

Yes, my appointment was fine- just a while of waiting. Sorry I missed your call again. Then we went shopping to buy some things for the new bathroom, which will hopefully have a toilet and sink installed today!
William's birthday was great! He was very excited about everything- from his 102 Dalmations decorations to his cake and of course, the presents. Thanks for his card- we went shopping at the Disney Store and he actually got to buy something with his own money!
Today is my godchild Emma's 4th birthday- we are going to Jeeper's of Friday together to celebrate.
First Communion is exciting- wish I could come, but the baby is due April 29. I do have a very nice veil of Cassidy's if you want me to send it out! Alyssa

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think that 'last month of pregnancy' and 'attended arobics class' shouldn't go together?

I guess it's all a matter of what you're used to. I'm used to seeing Michelle go to the gym up until the day of the delivery. I guess if you just keep up with the workouts during the weight gain, your body adjusts. I don't know as I've never been pregnant, but I've seen a few other aerobi-mommies at the YMCA do the same thing. It certainly seems to help speed post partum recovery.
