Timothy - the Incredible Bulk

Posted by Scott at 10:18 AM

Timothy - Today Timothy is seven months old, and he just seems so huge. Today he's wearing an eighteen month outfit. When I go to the store, I just buy large quantities of size 5 diapers because all three boys wear the same size! A week from now Timothy will go in for his MRI. Hopefully this time the hospital has it's act together and will actually do the MRI, not say "oops, we forgot to ...".

Holiday weekend wrapup - We had a nice holiday weekend. Claire's friend, Madison, came over for a sleepover. I took the three girls to Blockbuster to rent a couple of videos. While I was watching Abby and helping her choose, the older two picked out a couple of Mary Kate and Ashley videos. I didn't look them over because I figured they would be pretty tame. Big mistake! Unlike their more innocent "The Case of the [fill in the blank] " series from the mid-nineties, the Olsen girls were much older in these two videos. They were driving, scoping out boys every chance they got, flirting, etc. In the end Michelle and I thought it was pretty inappropriate for 8 year old girls and had to stop the movies about five minutes into the showings. Instead they watched "Tuck Everlasting", which Madison had never seen before and Claire had only seen once. Michelle was angry that these videos were placed in the "family" section.

Other than the nice weekend there hasn't been a lot going on these past several days. I went to an Opus Dei evening of recollection last night straight from work. When I got home Michelle was reading Family Fun magazine. Although I don't get to read it much, Michelle does. I love this month's cover - the thumbnail doesn't do it justice. I wish that when I was at the checkout aisle that more magazine covers were that tame. Michelle talked recently about the possibility of getting some kind of stove to put in the fireplace -- something like a wood burning stove, a pellet stove, or perhaps a propane stove. I need to do a bit of research to understand the pros and cons... Personally I'm more interested in getting more info on the Yamaha Clavinova Digital Pianos and the Disklavier Pianos. I think Michelle is less interested in this for now because Claire is signed up for gymnastics and a drama class -- although Michelle and I think Claire would sometimes be elegible to teach the drama class.

Layout changes ahead - I've been planning some layout changes for the next week. I'm going to delve a bit into what web developers call DHTML and make some of the stuff on the right sidebar dynamically expandable and collapsable content so that it doesn't look as much like a wall of text. It will be more hierarchical/outline-ish. I also plan on putting a changing section with recent links I saw that I found interesting: comics, articles, pictures, etc. It'll be like a mini-weblog of it's own without a lot of writeup, just "linkage".

Update [10PM] - I've put in the new section on the right which can record interesting webpages I trip across during the day. It's a weblog within a weblog. It's my hope that the main part of the page will then be more focused on local and domestic news. It'll be a couple of days longer before I add the dynamic "push button" expand/collapse hierarchy. If you come across an interesting webpage that I should see and perhaps include in the day's list, drop me an email with the URL.

Hi Scott!
Sorry it's been a while. I had a nice long weekend at home. That is, until Monday. I caught some stomach virus that mom had and it knocked me out until this morning. So I missed two days of classes and one day of work!! Thank goodness I could still read my chapters. I am going to back to class tomorrow.
I have a lot of work to catch up on now so as soon as I have time, I'll post something up :)

Yes, I heard that you felt pretty sick although I hadn't gotten a lot of details. Glad you're feeling better now. I didn't know mom had a stomach bug too.

Did you know that a cruise ship had to cancel this week due to the Norwalk virus, just like what happened to the cruise industry last year? Read about it on Yahoo:

Got to go for now. I love this new email notification of newly posted comments. I know within minutes of a new comment post.

I don't know exactly where it's distributed from, but the editors of Family Fun magazine are in Northampton, Mass. -- about 2 hours southwest of us. Perhaps that's why we get it so much earlier? Hopefully you'll get yours today... If you do, I think you'll agree that the girl dressed up as an autumn woodland fairy makes for a cute magazine cover shot.
