Hi all! I'm just here at work. Friday's are always slow (knock on wood) so I have some time. I finished one midterm on Tuesday and I have one more on Monday. On this Thursday I have a psychological report to write on myself about my results on the Strong Interest Inventory. Catchy name, because it does measure your interest's, but the Strong is the developers last name. Of coarse, it said my highest interests are in the social field. I'll get into a little 'psycobabble' now...The test measures the six most basic interests of a person. They are realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. Each of these have their own sub-categories of the interests that fall underneath. For example, the realistic category includes nature, agriculture, and military activities, and some others. Then, it is broken down further to very specific careers. The test doesn't measure whether you would be able to do the job, it compares you with others in that specific career. When the test was created, they took 200 people in each career and found their interests. So, the test basically tells if you are more or less similar in your interests to those of your same gender in that career. It is helpful for those who do not know what type of career to go in to. Each person who takes it gets a code. Mine was SAR (social, artisitic, and realistic) because those were the highest factor loadings I had. I couldn't believe I had R in there, I imagine Dad would have that. Come to find my interests in military activities were in the 90th percentile for women! I'm guessing this comes from my influence of my Dad and oldest brother! Either way, it was fun, now I just have to write up this report. It will have to include my background and how it may be integrated with what my interests are, a lot of statistics, and an interpretation of what it all means. Fun stuff for me :) So my point originally was that by Thursday I will be done with midterm season and feeling much better!

I took an IQ test yesterday. Thats our next assessment measure to learn. I did fairly well. I received a 115 puting me in the 76th percentile so I'm okay with that. However, I felt the test had a lot of limitations and was not very reliable or valid. Whatever.

Sprind break starts on the 6th. I am staying here to get thesis work done. I have fallen behind since midterms are here and haven't had time to get into it. I'm hoping I can get a lot done over the days and maybe make it home for a day or two. I don't want to get my self too excited, though.

On Saturday our cousin, Ben, is coming for a visit. He should be here around 6:00 pm. I plan on taking him to dinner, going to a movie, and then bowling with some friends. Sunday it is supposed to be in the high 50's here so I'd like to show him around campus and take him into downtown Normal.

Nothing else. Back to work I go!

Hi Suzy,

It's good to see the little photo of your smiling face on the front page again. Glad you found a chance to write. Feel free to call if you're missing mom and dad.
