Sperlings

Sperlings - I found an interesting web site this morning: Sperlings BestPlaces. These are the same folks who've done Money magazine's annual Best Places reports. It's fun to look at the statistics for where you live. You can also compare them to other places. For instance, here is a comparison between Des Plaines, IL; Milford, NH; and the national average. They look at population demographics, economy, housing, health, crime, education, climate, and transportation. I find it interesting to see where the major deviations from the national average occur.

Some of the data seems a bit suspect. For instance, they claim Milford's population is around 8900 where my understanding was that it is closer to 13575 as of the 2000 census. It also claimed Milford being 5.7 square miles when it's 25.2 square miles.

St. Paul - Interesting discovery relating to Christian history. Quoting from a Thursday's news story:

Vatican archeologists believe that they have identified the tomb of St. Paul in the Roman basilica that bears his name.
