Gaudete Sunday

Posted by Scott at 05:41 AM

The following contains a lot of blathering about random stuff. Please skip if you are allergic to disconnected writing. ;-)

Weekend - Gaudete Sunday refers to the third Sunday in advent, when the celebrant can wear rose colored (aka pink) vestments and lights the pink candle. I was surprised to see our priest wear the rose colored vestments. In Nashua our pastor always declined the option, saying "I don't look good in pink". To get into the spirit of the season, for Mass Michelle wore a shirt that was as green like a wreath, the girls wore outfits that had red, pink, and purple, and I wore a pink tie. I'm happy to report that the boys made it through the entire 7am Mass without incident. They were rewarded with a trip to the local family owned donut shop.

For the most part the weekend was marked with honey-do's. I shoveled off the back deck and trampoline. We took the family to Walmart to pick up some yarn for Claire and Abby to knit and crochet with. I cleaned out the heat exchanger on the first floor wood stove. We finished our work on the Christmas cards and mailed them out. I opened up one of the boxes with the desks the girls will get for Christmas. These desks are major "some assembly required" projects that I'll be working on for several nights between now and Christmas. I also stopped by Haywards to pick up some new shoes for work as my current ones are falling apart. Lastly Michelle and I went out on Saturday night for dinner at the Pasta Loft.

Other than that it was a typical weekend. The girls went to gymnastics. On Saturday they had friends over. On Sunday they played over at friends' houses. Lather, rinse, repeat… Michelle and I finished watching Fantastic Four and the family watched Madagascar. Can you watch Madagascar and not leave humming "I Like to Move It, Move It"? This week Michelle gets a bit of a break in that there is no CCD on Thursday. Having a week off should help avoid burnout.

Writing may be infrequent this week because I don't see much happening between now and Christmas. Hopefully someday in the next few weeks I'll have some good job news to write about. I need to followup with a few places where I submitted my resume and submit it to a few more this week.

Media - I'll close this entry with a few bits of bandwidth hogging multimedia.

  • Timothy Jammin' - In this video you see Timothy getting into one of the voice samples on the piano. I had promised this video in my last post.
  • Electric Grand sample - This is an MP3 of the voice sample that Timothy was playing.
  • Grand Piano demo - This is an extended voice demo of Yamaha showing off their "natural" grand piano voice. It's one of Timothy's favorites but it's driving Michelle crazy. I think the tempo of the song appeals to him because it fits his metabolism.
  • Angels We Have Heard on High - This is Claire's latest practice song.
Comments

I love the video! TJ finished his microtia report and he included in his case study section that Timothy enjoys music- certainly looks like it!
