Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:44 PM

Good morning! It's the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Catholic holy day. After dropping our girls off, I'm heading down to Concord, MA today. I plan on catching Mass at (related link) . I've never been there before but it should be interesting. Downtown Concord is dripping in history! 5:54am

Got the girls dropped off. Had a smooth commute in, first offering a Rosary for Michelle, and then listening to "Cryptonomicon" the rest of the way. Found Holy Family parish in downtown Concord and went to the 9am Mass for the feast of the Immaculate Conception. 10:24am

Had a great lunch with 5 of my ol' AMD/ATI coworkers at (related link) 1:54pm

Tried some variations on my route towards home. One is only usable if you like merging into highway speeds from a stop at the bottom of a entrance ramp. bleah But overall smooth sailing and enjoyed listening to more of "Cryptonomicon". Kids are watching "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" while I eat some re-heated dinner. 6:59pm

Watched last night's "Big Bang Theory". Feelin' sleepy. Tonight into tomorrow we're supposed to get some real snow. The kids are already hoping for a snow day. And tomorrow I get my snow tires put on the Jetta. G'Night all! 9:06pm

A Digital Breakthrough for Cancer Diagnosis
Comment: I hope this work bears fruit, but I also hope it isn't abused by insurance companies...
Excerpt: “Hopefully, through our work, one day a doctor will be able to give you a number related to cancer—whether the number is within a normal range, whether the number shows cells are transitioning to the cancerous stage and preventative treatment is needed, or whether the number is high and you need to ...

WRAL: White Rapists and Lombard
Comment: Sometimes it's not what the media says that makes you distrust them, it's the important details that they intentionally omit.
Excerpt: Over the course of the last few weeks, I have received several requests for an update on the Frank Lombard case. Lombard is the (now former) Duke administrator who was accused last summer of attempting to allow, and even arrange for, strangers he met on the internet to rape his adopted child.
