Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning and welcome to Friday! It's only 10°F in the Souhegan Valley and it's we're going to have wind gusts up to 50mph. It's too dark to tell but I don't think we got much snow overnight. I'm having some vision problems this morning. I can't see myself clearing snow in those conditions. 5:59am

Dropped the girls off at school. Michelle is dropping the boys off at theirs. Then she's heading over to the gym to use the machines. I'm VPN'd to work for the day. This morning is definitely a "fire up the second wood stove" kind of day. 8:39am

Everybody's working for the weekend ♫♪♬♩... 9:36am

Back from a late lunch with my spiritual director. On my way home paid up our balance at (related link) now that insurance has paid a majority of our expenses there. 2:44pm

Yay! AMD finally sent my W-2 for my first half of 2009. Gee guys, what's your rush? This weekend I'll have to get started TurboTax'ing... If things go well, we're hoping to upgrade the ol' Honda Odyssey soon. 4:18pm

In between studying code this afternoon, I tried two different Linux distros on the old Dell. The cursed Broadcom wireless hardware gave both of 'em issues. Debating whether to keep chasing it or just buy a compatible card. But for now, enjoying some home made chicken noodle soup Michelle crock-potted all day. Yum! 6:44pm

Back down to 9°F here in Milford. I think I saw a whopping 18°F when I was out for lunch, but that was as good as it got. So no, I didn't get my hair buzz cut yet. 8:22pm

My IEEE membership lets me look at old archives of their "IEEE Computer" journals and I'm looking at one that's 32 years old (Jan. 1978). It had an article that made me smile: "Interactive Computer Graphics: Poised for Takeoff?" Ah, hindsight makes for interesting reading. 8:30pm
