Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 08:41 PM

Good morning! Even though the kids don't have school this week and I'm working from home today, I must find some motivation to get started... 6:32am

Watched the second half of Dr. Who "Blink" over breakfast. Very cool episode! Kicking myself a bit that I paid $2 to buy it on iTunes when it was also available via Netflix streaming. I really should've checked Netflix first. 8:01am

I'm VPN'd into the office for the day. Michelle is about to take the kidlets to the YMCA so she can teach her Step class. At least the house will be quiet for the rest of the morning. 8:29am

Got a fresh buzz cut and went to Cafe on the Oval for some lunch. Soon Michelle will take Claire for a followup with the rheumatologist. 1:39pm

I booted Claire's old laptop to install the latest OS (Ubuntu) updates. What was so frustrating was that this 5-6 year old laptop booted so much faster than my latest Intel Core 2 Duo company laptop running Windows XP and a host of other IT required apps. (anti-virus, backup, etc.) To rub salt in the wounds, the update went faster than a typical Windows update. 4:24pm

Claire and I are just back from a great Step & abs class at Golds. 7:03pm

Got the boys down to bed. Now going to do a little bit of studying and call it a night. Good night all! 8:41pm

Now they've put their combined experience into a 365 devotional designed to encourage busy women to take small steps every day to grow their faith and put it into...

Lenovo emerges as leading candidate for Palm purchase | Reuters
Comment: Hmm. Wonder if Lenovo could save them. I have a special place in my geek heart for Palm. Their new WebOS phones (the Pre & Pixie) are actually pretty decent, but after PalmOS sat atrophying without major changes for several years, they gave their smartphone mindshare up to Apple, RIM, and Google.
Excerpt: * HTC not bidding for Palm after reviewing its numbers-source * Lenovo shares surge to 23-month high * Lenovo had over $2.4 billion in net cash at end-2009 * Palm could potentially fetch $1.3 billion

Dilbert's company builds a nationwide wireless network
Comment: You can only imagine how funny this is to Qualcomm employees. "It's wireless. How hard could it be to NOT install wires?"
