Another Long Day

I am getting so tired of iTunes updates. In the late eighty's geeks used to tease about Emacs as meaning Eight Megabytes And Constantly Swapping. iTunes is trying to live up to that image. Today's update: 93 megabytes for the installer, over 157 megabytes installed. For a tool that wants to be the Swiss Army knife of media and management of portable devices (iPads, iPhones, etc.) ¡Ay, caramba! 6:31am

Got the girls off to their schools and head down to The Office. I listened to Security Now #285 along the drive. It's always a bit more "hard core" tech than the other podcasts on Leo's TWiT network. More informative and less punditry. This weekend I really must spend a little time thinking about my next audiobook now that I've finished "Life of Mary". Now enjoying office bagel day as I dig through the overnight email and prepare to launch a dozen or more new GPU tests. 9:19am

Lunch with some of my ol' AMD co-workers. Now back on a conference call with my San Diego QC peers. 1:26pm

Read the storyHummingbird vs. Snapdragon vs. OMAP vs. Tegra 2: ARM Chips Explained. Unlike the desktop market where it's basically Intel vs AMD, in my embedded/mobile space the field is still far more competitive. Snapdragon has the distinction of having the whole cellular chip and apps chip merged into one chip. Every other mobile solution does it in two chips. 2:02pm

Long day. Friday's often are as I sync up with my boss, write status reports, and crunch to get some last tests running before close of business. Finally got it all behind me though and head home, listening to BOL #1396 at first and catching up with River Grove news the rest of the way. Now to enjoy some dinner. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy it when Michelle makes "comfort food"? Tonight's white chicken chili definitely counts! 7:45pm

Dropped Abby off at a Tween Lock In. Put on by a few of the area churches, we'll see how much of a zombie she is early tomorrow morning when we pick her up. And just as I was about to start my car to take her there, a headlight burnt out. Just wonderful. Guess I'll install a replacement tomorrow... 9:31pm

I'm looking at the amazing growth rate for Amazon's S3 services. My backups are there via JungleDisk. If you've ever used DropBox or perhaps SmugMug, their storage is Amazon S3 too. 9:52pm

Fun Stuff To Do at a Department Store - Wow! And I thought I didn't like shopping. Evidently this husband made the best of his time... 10:00pm
