A belated good morning! I dropped the girls off at their schools and returned home. I'm working from home today because of a company family outing late this afternoon. I usually spend about two hours a day doing the commute, I didn't want to make it four today. 9:28am

In between work items I've been tinkering with my Linux VMs again. Youngin's like Timothy have no idea how convenient things are now compared to my USAF days. I just used the package manager to install Emacs, Ruby, Tcl, Tk, and clisp. In the 90's that would have been an afternoon of downloads, configuring, compiles, installs, testing, etc. Now with one single command I installed all five in less than 30 seconds. 9:31am

Took my sweetie out for lunch at Cafe on the Oval before she heads to radiation. Sunny but rather chilly outside: ~55-58°F. One of today's specials was something I know Michelle would never make: fried baloney sandwich. So of course that was my choice today. Hadn't had one in years! On toasted swirl rye with mustard and grilled onions. Yum! 12:18am

Amazon writes to tell me "Just Dance 3" [pre-ordered back in June] will arrive on 10/11/2011. There will be much rejoicing among the kidlets. 1:02pm

Learning about CodeCollaborator. Video tour. Looks interesting, at least in theory. There are many times I'd like a second set of eyes on a piece of code I'm changing. This makes it easy to do and track. 1:38pm

Michelle had an okay treatment and did a bit of Kohls shopping afterwards. This wraps up the first of five weeks of daily radiation treatments. One down, four to go. Fingers crossed. Watching the last bits of the CodeCollaborator tutorial and then headin' with the family to Kimball Farm. The kidlets have been excited for days. 4:00pm

See it at AmazonBack home from a long, but fun night at Kimball Farm. The kids enjoyed the dinner and ice cream sundae bar, the golf driving range, the arcade, and the animal show. It was too chilly tonight to enjoy the bumper boats or the mini-golf. And hey, I won one of the good raffles. I got a Sony Cybershot DSC-W570! I was just telling Michelle last week that I've been putting off the temptation to buy a camera for several years now. Even inexpensive cameras are so much more powerful than the “nice” camera I bought 8 years ago. We'll see how this does. Review sites like CNET liked it. And Michael, who loves owls, got to see one up close and pet it. They also got to pet a crocodile and a kangaroo. We're all pretty exhausted by now. Poor Claire has another cross country meet tomorrow. Good night all! 10:45pm
