Bill We're Happy to Pay

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Another cool, sunny autumn morning here in New England. I dropped the girls off at their schools. Abby will spend the day at the high school doing more of the Young Americans prep for tomorrow's performance. She seems really excited by it. 9:17am

I stopped in Brookline for a fillup. It was a bit eerie because a lot of it was blanketed in fog. I listened to more of Crackpot and Buzzkill on the commute in for some entertainment, taking a temporary break from the audiobook. Now enjoying a "Bagel Friday" bagel at the office as I triage the overnight email. 9:20am

Stepped out to grab a quick chicken Caesar salad for lunch. Man! Sunny and ~70°F out there. Nice! Unfortunately many of my peers are on vacation or workin' from home today and I have a noon to 2 o'clock meeting to listen in on. So I'm back at the desk grazing on this salad... 12:01am

Wrapped up the noon 'til 2 meeting. Now time for the 2 'til 3:30 meeting... 2:03pm

Holy Cow! The bill for Michelle's malignancy excision surgery was officially listed at $24,710.04. Our balance: $78.85. Mind boggles. Happiest bill we'll pay this month! 4:06pm

Left work on the late side, which seems to happen on Friday's a lot. At least it wasn't raining as I head home, listening to more of “The Diamond Age” along the commute. 7:26pm

Thumbnail of Michelle at Black Forest CafeShortly after I got home, Michelle and I went out for a date night at the Black Forest Cafe in Amherst. I had the best tasting but most fu-fu grilled ham 'n cheese ever: Black Forest ham, creamy brie, cranberry chutney and a drizzle of honey mustard, grilled on house made focaccia. Well, that and a bowl of white bean soup. I guess I was hungry after the salad lunch I'd had. 10:31pm

When we got home, the kids were just finishing up the new Disney pilot of “Jessie”, which they'd been anticipating for days. Michelle got the boys to bed while I spent a little time reading until it was time to pick Claire up from Subway. Unfortunately the post-closing cleanup chores kept her there until 10pm. Yawn! Good night all! 10:36pm

Did a quick check on the National Breast Cancer Foundation to double check how they spend their charitable donations. There are so many cancer related foundations but the way they handle your money is all over the map. Luckily NBCF seems like an efficient charity. 11:08pm
