Pink Hair

Good morning! After their three day weekend, it's back to school for the kids. I dropped the girls off at their schools and had a gorgeous New England autumn commute into the office. I started the second half of "The Diamond Age" on today's commute. I'm really enjoying the novel and it only makes me more eager to be able to start the author's new novel, "Reamde", soon. 8:57am

Michelle has a 20/20/20 class to teach at Golds now and two doctor appointments afterwards. The first appointment is her daily radiation treatment. We're getting near the end of those. The second is a followup exam with her oncologist to plan wear we go from here. 9:15am

Fundraiser link Help my sister Suzy raise breast cancer funds and make her dye her hair pink. At least 10 of her upcoming pink highlights are my fault. Pictures to follow in a couple of days after the hair appointment. 9:27am

Had a long day at work, but I pretty much got what I'd hoped for working. Listened to more of "The Diamond Age" on the drive home, while thinking about how I could improve upon today's tests. It can a while to stop thinking about work sometimes, can't it? When I got home I was a bit surprised to see Michelle gone. The kids reminded me that she had a local area cancer support group meeting tonight. 7:30pm

Click to see it at Amazon Timothy was excited that his WiFi card had come in. But while we were unpacking it, he also informed me that he was having boot issues. I told him we should hold off on installing the card until we got to the root cause of the boot issues. 8:00pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Michelle returned from her meeting and told me about her two doctor appointments today. It turns out that next Thursday is her last day of radiation, not this Friday. After that it comes down to just frequent scans over the next few years. 9:11pm

After many power cycles and Google searches, I found that the best way to stabilize his tower was to boot with "acpi=off". I guess Linux kernels can be a bit volatile in that area. I can research more in the days ahead to refine it. So perhaps tomorrow he can get his wish and we can install his WiFi card. 10:09pm
