Snow Day!

Posted by Scott at 10:11 PM

Must see video: The secret of beautiful, flawless skin. Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Fotoshop by Adobé. ;-] I love the psuedo-French pronunciation they do for “Adobé”. 6:16am

Dragon Go! Brings Dragon’s Superior Voice Search to Android. Built-in voice recognition is good, but hopefully will try this out soon. 6:18am

Good morning! The kids are all abuzz on the news that today is their first snow day of the year. It's as though we OD'd them on sugary treats. There's only about two inches at the moment. I'm working from home via VPN. 8:39am

In honor of today's weather in the northeast (snow at last!), I've reset my computer wallpaper with this. 9:43am

“Penalizing the fuel suppliers demonstrates what happens when the federal government really, really wants something that technology is not ready to provide.” (more context) 10:34am

Donned my flannel lined jeans, an old sweatshirt, and cleared out the snow for the sidewalk, driveway, and paths around the house. It was probably only 4-5 inches of decent packing snow. The other six have been clearing things I can't with a snowblower, ie. porch, patio, trampoline, etc. Now back to work and onto my main conference call of the day. 2:02pm

*sigh* If only it were always this simple: Woman reportedly coughs up cancerous tumor. 2:15pm

Those crazy politicians in DC. They really think they set the debt limit. Silly pols! China does! <<wink>> 2:30pm

Video: Combine Nintendo's Mario and my favorite song by Queen and you get this. Hat tip to my son, Timothy, for getting me motivated again to finish the afternoon. 3:00pm

Really sad that Subway was this lax with their point of sale transactions. Glad I always buy my lunches with cash. 3:30pm

Video: Debt Limit, A Guide to American Federal Debt Made Easy. If there were a YouTube video I'd like to see go viral this year, this would be it. Then maybe that “Fotoshop” one I linked above because of the issues our young (esp. women) have with body image. 4:39pm

Back in The Day™ I would so have rather had this than even the nerdiest HP calculator. (Windows, Mac, and yes even Linux!) I kind of envy the easy access our young have to being able to visualize and “tinker” with math. In my engineering school days my professors would often say something like, “now visualize this surface on a three dimensional plane and this line intersecting it…” Now with almost no effort, you don't need to visualize it in your mind's eye. You can really see it. 6:30pm

“It's so cold outside I just saw a Democrat with his hands in his own pockets.” Yeah, it's an old one, but I'm feeling politically snarky. 6:47pm

Worked until ~7:30. Michelle and I relaxed with a couple of rounds of Solitaire on the iMacs. Yes, insane amounts of compute power running a state of the art operating system, and we're playing solitaire. Got the boys tucked bed with their prayers. About to pick up Claire from Subway. Good night all! 9:07pm

“A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said,
‘If you wish, you can make me clean.’
Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched the leper,
and said to him, ‘I do will it. Be made clean.’ ”
