End of Semester

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! I dropped the girls off at their schools. I'm happy for Claire. She has a math final and a Spanish final. And then she comes home early and has a weekend without homework. The roads are pretty messy and I'm working from home. 8:04am

The Doctors Just bought this awesome Doctor Who shirt from TeeFury! 8:18am

Picked up Claire from her finals. I guess they were pretty rough. I took her and Michelle for another lunch at Cafe on the Oval. Time to work on more tests. Also have conference calls at 2pm and 6pm. On the bright side: Claire is totally free for almost three days. Monday starts a new semester for her. 1:19pm

It looks like the last of this freezing rainy, sleety slop is pushing out of here. It'll be nice to dry up now. Between the rain and the snow melt, the brook on our property is flowing a bit high. 1:27pm

Google thinks I'm an 18-24 year old male? (related article link) Just who does Google think you are? See for yourself. 2:23pm

Warren Buffett: Stop talking about the woman I keep dragging into the spotlight Sounds like a headline from TheOnion. ;-] Buffet loves talking about her tax rate, but doesn't like voters to know about her high six figure salary. If she made what most secretaries make, her overall income tax rate would be pretty low, if not zero. 2:34pm

Jeapardy video: Who is Rachel Maddow? Ouch! Not recognized by any of the contestants. 3:23pm

Bagdhad Bob Video: The Vote Pump. Think it's crazy that the President will spend ~$1 billion in his reelection campaign? That's chump change! 3:45pm

WSJ: No Need to Panic About Global Warming. But, but, but "we have consensus! This is settled science!" Note the names of the signatories. Not exactly scientific lightweights. 6:56pm

8 incredibly dumb theories famous scientists actually believed. Even the best in their fields held some pretty crazy ideas in retrospect. As a man of math and science, I also believe that just because someone is very credible scientist, doesn't mean everything they say is infallible. To those 8 listed I would add Darwin's racist views and Galileo's strongly held belief that the earth's rotation was the cause of tidal waves. 7:16pm

Managed to crank out and debug one more suite of tests this afternoon before the 6pm conference call. Finally can wrap my week up and log out. I'm not a big fan of long conference calls on Friday night but I understand it can be hard to coordinate between the east and west coast teams. 7:36pm

Relaxing with the family while watching the newest episode of Once Upon A Time. 8:05pm

It was another good episode. <spoilers>I like the back story about Snow White and the 8, I mean 7 dwarves. RIP ‘Stealthy’.</spoilers> Shortly afterward Abby and I went to pick up Claire from Subway. Abby wanted a Subway cookie. Good night all! 9:55pm

Just found out that Tim's favorite window manager, AwesomeWM, was named after Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. (video link) Tagline: “When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be awesome instead.” 10:13pm
