St. Valentine

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! It's been a bit chaotic. Claire had her regular NHS meeting so I took Abby and the twins to school. Michelle went to Mass and took Timothy to school. Later oncology called and said that the blood that was drawn Tuesday for lab analysis had expired before it was tested, so Michelle is rushing to have them draw it again. 9:00am

I stopped by Cafe on the Oval for a quick "Polish" omelette. MMmm. Kielbasa. I listened to more of Fulton Sheen's "Life of Christ" on the drive down to the office. That voice synthesis is pretty good, but I laugh at its mistakes. My favorite: it keeps pronouncing "St." as "street". As in Street Peter, Street Paul, etc. Can't say that I blame it... 9:50am

Dr. Who Valentines

This looks geeky and fun: Create your own xkcd-style comics using HTML markup. Perhaps Timothy and I will try it this weekend. 9:51am

Okay... so I got the followup call. So far Good News. As I've mentioned the drug is tolerated well. Today's blood tests have showed that the falling levels (white blood cells and platelets) have leveled off. They're low, but not intervention low. Tolerably low. So now we wait for a couple more weeks before we have the CT scan to measure efficacy. 12:27pm

For those old enough to remember dial up modems... and those noises they made during initial connection. (see the photo) 4:51pm

Left work on the late side tonight. I caught up with my dad and we discussed his upcoming visit. Then for the second half of the commute I listened to more of Sheen's “Life of Christ”. 7:33pm

After dinner I helped Michael and Daniel with their math homework. I got a kick out of what the nature of it was: transposing vertices. That's half of what a GPU does. Then said prayers with the boys and sent them to bed. Claire is still at gymnastics. 9:00pm

“Then Jesus said to all,
‘If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.’ ”
Luke 9
