Last night the Tarpeys headed back to their Nashua hotel for the last time. There were plenty of goodbyes and hugs to go around amidst the mosquito swatting. It's always sad to watch Claire's face when visitors leave. Early this morning Alyssa, Tom, and their kids headed back west to Chicago. We had a great time while it lasted.
As I mentioned earlier, we went to Canobie Lake Park on Tuesday. My employer, VAutomation, is planning its company summer outing there next month. On Wednesday I went to work but Claire spent most of the day with the Tarpeys, including a trip to see "America's Stonehenge" in Salem, NH. They also went to take family pictures at Anheuser-Busch's scenic gardens which are a couple miles north of here. On Thursday Alyssa, Tom, and I took the kids to Wallis Sands Beach. It's located on the coast between Hampton and Portsmouth. It's a state run beach that's clean, has bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, and concessions. The only downside of that trip was the traffic jam on the return trip because the highway was down to one lane for a few miles around Exeter. I also felt a bit bad that Michelle stayed home with the twins for on Tuesday and Thursday. Perhaps the chance to nap when the twins rested helped offset that.
So today it was back to business as usual. I had only taken two non-consecutive days off to try to avoid serious repercussion at my job. If I had taken all four days off without sufficient lead time and preparation, it may have been a disaster.
The pollen has been through the roof here. My sinuses had cleared up when I was at the coast but the sniffles and sneezing came back today. The temperatures aren't helping. It's been around 90 degrees the past couple of days. Michelle and the kids spent a good deal of time around the kiddie pool today. Given the temperature, I didn't blame her!
I have some pictures of all the kids still in the camera. Perhaps I'll get some time this weekend to extract them. I'd like to aggregate them with the photos from Canobie Lake park and have ShutterFly do some prints for me. Given the continued high temps predicted for this weekend, I think I'll have to just shoot for us all keeping our sanity. Do ya' think the YMCA pool might get a bit crowded this weekend?
