So this weekend the girls watched three movies. I stayed home Monday morning with the kids while Michelle taught a step class. The girls watched a very old (1949) Disney movie, "So Dear to My Heart". I was busy catching up with my mom for much of the movie but judging by the laughter coming from the girls, I think they enjoyed it. They also watched a cheesy Mary Kate and Ashley movie called "Billboard Dad". Gack! We also watched the Disney classic, "Snow White". I never realized that Snow White's voice sounds like a cross between Shirley Temple and Betty Boop.
On Sunday Claire and I hit Circuit City and Best Buy to try and look for PVRs. No luck on that front, but I picked up two Reader Rabbit CD-ROMs for the girls. For Abby I picked up "Reader Rabbit Preschool--Sparkle Star Rescue!" and for Claire I picked up Reader Rabbit 1st Grade--Capers on Cloud Nine! . It was nice to see that both games were MacOS X ready and didn't seem to require Mac's Classic emulation mode to run. We've always had good success with the Reader Rabbit series. Anyway running these CD-ROMs is where you see the difference between Claire and Abby. Abby is patient and willing to try, even if she's not sure. Claire panics if she doesn't understand and gets a look of anxiety on her face.
Michael and (to a lesser extent) Daniel don't seem to be in the best of moods this past day or so. Ahh, the sounds of conjestion and running noses. We've come up with a new little refrain (sung to the Monkeys/Smashmouth/Shrek Theme: I'm A Believer) :
"And then I saw his nose....Yes, gross I know, but it's getting a little frustrating chasing after them with tissues all day. After every sneeze you cringe and see what's waiting for you.
Yeah, it's a real streamer..."
When I spoke with my folks this weekend we discussed the possibility of making a trip to Weston Priory when they visit. It'd be a good mini-pilgrimage to make near the end of Lent. Perhaps we might even pull Claire out of school for the day to join us.
