Last night as I was driving to an Opus Dei meeting, I had NPR tuned in on the radio and was listening to Fresh Air, their regular interview show. They had an interesting interview with Dr. Mel Levine who spoke about his research into what gives kids difficulties in learning at school. It was nice to hear someone who didn't use labels like ADD or ADHD or learning disability. He actually looked at root issues that underlie learning difficulties. I'll likely pick up his most recent book in the next few weeks. You can see the first chapter of the book here. Too often we just assume the kid is not bright, or needs to be held back, or put them on Ritilan. It could be an interesting read for the summer.
