If you tried to reach the webpage yesterday, you probably had no luck. Somewhere during the day Adelphia's Powerlink internet service went out in a major way. While the computer hosting the website was up, it couldn't be reached by the outside world. My modem lights were blinking in a pattern that seemed to say "Hello? Anybody out there? Bueller?" The internet connection came back up sometime overnight and the bandwidth is screaming -- at least for now.
It's times like this that make me rethink the decision to host the website from home. There are plenty of web hosting providers who will do so for very reasonable rates.
Michael is a little sick this morning. He's been throwing up a bit. My laptop almost got a mouthful. *grin* I'm glad we went to Mass last night so that we don't have to take him out today.
Update: It turns out it had little to do with Adelphia. Now that I've been online for a bit I've read that much of the internet was taken out yesterday by a virulent internet worm that is exploiting a bug in the Microsoft SQL servers. It has taken out several computer services. It was premature to blame Adelphia, but with their track record it wasn't an outlandish assumption.
Hey Scott- yes, i tried several times yesterday to read up on here and couldn't get through- I thought maybe it was our dorm computers- we couldnt get any internet for several hours in any of our rooms- glad its working again- Hope Michael feels better!
