Living the graduate life! Okay, I'm sure that's not how you say it, but, you get the idea.
Graduation was great. Months ago, even the thought of it made my eyes water up. I was used to the thought by graduation day, so I didn't get very emotional. I think I was more proud to look up in the stands and see almost my whole family and so many of my best friends ("both of them?" as dad would ask). But yes, the luster is taken away a bit when I know I am going back in a few months. I'm pretty sure I won't walk for the ceremony in 2 years. I'll just hope mom makes me an eclair cake.
I have already started receiving gifts. The day after graduation, Seth came in town to surprise me. He had gotten me tickets to see the Deftones, one of my most favorite bands. I had no idea they were even coming to Chicago. I was really excited, to say the least. When we were there, however, the band started an hour late. Once they did start, I got accidentally tossed into the mosh pit. Seth had to practically drag me out. My hero! (sigh)
The last few days have been somewhat eventful. Mom, Dad, and I went to Michigan the other day. We spent our day buying plants for our house. That kind of stuff used to be really boring to me, but now that I will have my own apartment, I see it all in a different light. I picture how things would look in my house. Then it seems a lot more fun. I am begining to understand why my parents have done that for so many years.
The rest of my spare time has been spent on doing laundry. It is unbelievable how much I have, and I'm still doing more today! So, today I will be washing clothes and dusting for mom. Sounds dull, but it actually gives me a purpose now that I don't have a job. Tomorrow, Seth comes back in town and we are going with Kim and Laurna to see The Matrix. Saturday, the family is going to Emma's baptism and then I have to go to a graduation party in Ottowa (wherever that is!)
Oh, and don't worry, I plan to keep typing here for the next two years!
"Ottowa" or "Ottawa"? I'm not sure about the former. There are quite a few towns in the US spelled the latter way. (in IL, KS, IA, MN, OH, KY, MI, OK, and PA) The most famous, of course, is in Ontario, Canada. If you're going to Canada, be sure to bring along some proof of citizenship. You don't want to get stuck on the other side of the border, eh?
I had no idea there were so many Ottawa's. It competes with a town name like "Milford" - in CT, DE, MA, MI, NH, OH, CA, GA, IA, and IL. There's only one other "River Grove" though. It's in Oregon.
