This morning we went to 8AM Mass but there was no coffee and donuts afterward so we stopped by a Dunkin Donuts (there's only about a half dozen to choose from along the drive...) to pick up some donuts and bagels to go. After breakfast the kids played outside while I assembled Abby's new Big Wheel -- and really gouged my finger in the process. Ouch! Where is that Neosporin anyway?! I sure hope Abby appreciates this. Anyway...
Around lunchtime Claire and I drove back to K B Toys to pick up some more GameCube controllers. The GameCube we purchased yesterday only came with one controller with about 5 feet of cord. We had placed the GameCube near the top of the entertainment center to keep it out of reach of curious little hands. Consequently you had to sit pretty close to the television to play. Even then the cord was very tempting to the twins. A little research showed that Nintendo makes wireless controllers. Perfect! We picked up a pair at K B so two of us could play at the same time. It was much nicer to be able to play from the comfort of the couch without a long dangling cord which would be too tempting to the twins.
Later in the afternoon there was a neighborhood pig roast up the street. At first we were a bit nervous because the skies were overcast and the mosquitoes were out in force, but the rain held out and a little repellant kept away the bug bites. After the boys went down to bed, Michelle and the girls played some Mario Party with Abby and Michelle up against Claire. It was cute to see Michelle play a video game. I think it had been many years since she last played.
I came across another review of the upcoming "Cheaper by the Dozen" movie while catching up on the web news this evening. Cory had some interesting insights into Frank Gilbreth, the father (to be played by Steve Martin) at the center of the movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it this holiday season but hope it isn't too updated in efforts to "modernize" the movie. Remember, Christmas is only seven months away! *grin*
After taking a few pictures this afternoon I realized it's time to extract the photos building up in the camera and make another web album soon. Unless something unexpected occurs, I imagine I'll put up a small album tomorrow. They're predicting rain again for tomorrow so I might as well spend a little time in Photoshop.
I had bought wireless controlers for my PS2, but they weren't very effective for the games i was playing. They worked good for role playing games but not to good for sports games.
Posted by: Chris at May 26, 2003 10:15 AMSo far these controllers have been pretty nice. I haven't noticed any lag or dropped input. Were your PS2 wireless controllers using radio (RF) or infrared (IR)? I've heard that IR is very annoying because keeping a decent line-of-sight is a pain. Nintendo removed the "rumble" feature from their wireless controllers because it takes too much from the batteries to run the rumble motor. Other than that it's just like the regular controller but you can sit across the room and easily hand them off (which we do a lot of as individuals say "let me try that one!").
Michelle played on the GameCube again tonight with the girls after the boys went to bed. She's getting a real kick out of it. The 50+ "minigames" that are in Mario Party are really amusing.
I still feel bad about your GameBoy. I think you really would have enjoyed tinkering with it.
Posted by: Scott at May 26, 2003 10:16 PMHey Scott, a little off the topic but, sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. Now that I'm home I have to remember that I can still update my New Hapmshire family. Anyways, the graduation party went great. I missed not having all of you there :(
