There hasn't been much to write about these past several days. Here are a few odd and ends.
- I'm still brainstorming in my head about the most intuitive way to see what note spaces have been updated and when. For now you can get a peek at the approach I'll use here. Whether it'll be on the front page right hand side or accessed via a tab up top is about all that's left to decide.
- The weather has been temperate and the autumn colors are really outstanding this year. The lawn has slowed down in growth. Today's mowing was the first in two weeks and even then it wasn't that tall. As is the ritual every fall, the sprinkler lines were pumped out today.
- The lawn also received it's last fertilizer treatment for the year. The service person hand wrote a note that we should always mulch our clippings and consider aerating. Did she not realize I had just mowed a couple of hours ago (with fine grass clippings all over the place) and not notice the holes in the lawn? Perhaps it's just a standard shpeal she writes on people's invoices today. It was all I could do not to channel Wayne Campbell -- "well, duh".
- Abby had another piano lesson this afternoon. The highlight of her upcoming practice is that she gets to learn a much simplified version of Beethoven's Ode to Joy. In Catholic Masses it's the melody to "Joyful, joyful we adore thee". If I get time I may add some background tracks to "kick it up a notch". She has no lesson next Saturday.
- Abby joined Claire in the St. Patrick's children's choir. She's always humming and singing little songs to herself so we thought, "why not?"
- Abby and Claire had their first ever CCD class this past week. For the past two years I taught Claire but now that we've transfered to St. Pat's, I wanted them to go there so that they could get more involved with the parish.
- As I mentioned in comments earlier this week, my Accord is back to normal. The tires were resealed on the rims, the oil pan replaced, and the alternator replaced. A major wallet lightening experience!
- Last night Russell and Will came over for pizza. Afterwards we watched Ella Enchanted on DVD. I highlighted Michelle's work on room painting. I also had a bit of embarrassment when the pellet stove wouldn't light. I hadn't realized that it was empty... doohhhh!
- After tonight's dinner we took all the kids out for ice cream at Santos Dumont. It's always an adventure taking them out to eat. This time Timothy got a big kick out of scribbling on their blackboards. I was worried he would tantrum, though, as I played interference between him and the sundae bar.
- It's about time for another photo album, don't you think? I have a few dozen images in the camera to extract, review/sort through, and prep. I just haven't had the motivation these past several days. When I'm home I want to help Michelle with the kids where I can, and when they go to bed, I have no motivation to sit in front of Photoshop for an hour. Besides, with nice weather, who wants to sit at a computer desk?
As I said, nothing earth shattering, but I thought I'd scribble a few things down. If nothing else, I enjoy looking back at old entries. It's like looking over old photo albums. Whether the pictures are good or not, they always bring back memories.
