Yesterday we got another 4 to 6 inches of snow in the region. When I woke up, there was a little over an inch of the stuff on the ground. I checked the WMUR Closings page multiple times to verify that the Milford schools were still open. Milford was very late in calling the day closed. Claire and Abby were in their coats, armed with backpacks and lunches, when I did one last check and saw it was closed. You can imagine the girls cheers. You can imagine Michelle's sigh.
Michelle was scheduled to go the YMCA to take an aerobics class. She called to expand the number of reservations at the KidStop. Abby protested that she didn't want to go. I quickly ran over the driveway with the snowblower so the van tires wouldn't pack in the snow. About half an hour after Michelle and the kids pulled out they had returned. Evidently there must have been some sort of accident on the 101 Milford bypass. Again, Abby cheered, Michelle sighed.
I took off for work, taking the road through Milford to avoid any problems on the bypass. I had hoped Michelle would maintain some sanity during the day considering it wasn't much of a 'play outside' kind of day. By late morning she called to say that two of the girls friends from down the street had come to play. Considering that they kept Claire and Abby busy, Michelle let them stay all day including lunch and dinner.
We were both pretty tired as the kids' bedtime approached. We watched the Monday evening broadcast of the Tonight Show, cached on Tivo. As you might expect, all previously scheduled guests were cancelled and the show was a retrospective on Johnny Carson. As much as I enjoy Jay, it brought back memories of the foundation set by Johnny.
Several months back I put a DVD entitled "The Ultimate Carson Collection" on my rental queue. Slowly it was creeping up on the list. Suddenly it's status has changed to "Very Long Wait". I can't imagine why! *wink*
