Movie - Last night after Michelle and I put the twins down, we watched some (gasp) live TV. That's not actually completely true. We saw the intro to ET (Entertainment Tonight). There was the usual teaser stuff to encourage you to keep watching. There was the hype about Jessica Simpson. She's saturating the media even more than usual lately because of the upcoming "Dukes" movie. There was some strange story about a friend of Carnie Wilson getting gastric bypass surgery. No thanks, I just had dinner. And then a brief teaser I almost missed about a remake of the 60's big family classic "Yours, Mine, and Ours". Whoa! Hold the phone! Thank goodness for TiVo instant replay. Rewind, re-listen. Yep, I heard right. I had TiVo buffer the live stream and watched something stored for the next half hour.
Later we went back to watched the cached ET, fast forwarding through the tripe and found the story about "Yours, Mine, and Ours". It looks as though Paramount is trying to cash in on some of the success Fox had two years ago with the remake of "Cheaper by the Dozen". The remake is going to star Dennis Quaid in the role of Navy man, Frank Beardsley, formerly played by Henry Fonda and Rene Russo plays the role of Helen North, formerly held by Lucille Ball. The currently sparse movie site is here and there's a movie trailer here. It's supposed to come out in November, so it looks like I know what to take the girls to see after Thanksgiving.
Wedding - Speaking of November, I almost forgot some exciting news. My good friend, Ed, is getting married this November. I've been asked to be a best man, a first for me. I don't think I've seen him since the twins' Baptism, but we have long winded phone calls to catch up when we can. He is Daniel's godfather. Here's an old informal picture of him with Daniel and here's a better one with Daniel and his godmother, Bev. I'll be flying to New Orleans for the wedding.
Almost as exciting as the wedding news was the second piece of good news. Ed is taking a teaching position this fall at Franciscan University of Steubenville, one of the few remaining faithful Catholic colleges. He'll teach computer science for a year.
