As you might guess, today started out with the usual split shift Masses. Michelle took Abigail and Michael to 7AM; I took Claire and Daniel to 8:30AM. Later in the morning Michelle and I got started on lawn work. I mowed, Michelle trimmed and spread mulch leftover from the tree planting. Once we were all cleaned up we took the boys on a walk to pick up their sisters from down the street. Miraculously by the time we got back home from the walk, we had our five kids and an additional five girls from houses down the street. It looked almost like a parade. Ten kids — ten and under. It was, in effect, Claire's birthday, part deux. Michelle fired up the wood grill and made a feast of hamburgers and hot dogs to feed this army of children. In between there were those who Mario Party'd, those who watched Lilo and Stitch 2, those playing on the trampoline and swing set, those trying their luck with a stomp rocket. No one was bored.
I did record two new songs that Claire is supposed to work on this week. The first is The Boogie Machine and the second is called Malagueña. For piano finger exercises, they are kind of fun! I also did a minor hack to the site's style sheet so that all MP3 file links are tagged with those little note graphics. The file size will be displayed when you hover on the link, depending on the browser. It's just meant to be a visual indicator that if you click on the link, you're not going to a web page per se, but rather a music MP3 file.
I'll close with our most recent annoying Timothy tendency. Lately if he's eating and he gets something on his hands or fingers, instead of using a napkin, he'll wipe them off with his hair. Good thing he gets nearly daily baths! He's such a Timbo. I'll give him credit though. He's very sharp and always watching how we do things. You can almost hear the gears grinding in his brain when he does so. He picks up on those things right away. Unfortunately, they are things we'd rather he not learn — like how to plug in the electric jeep.
The little MP3 graphic next to MP3 links does *NOT* show in Internet Explorer due to the usual reasons of Internet Explorer not having been updated in several years (other than security fixes). I don't know if there's a workaround, but it's hard for me to care. Internet Explorer often seems only a little more up to date than the original *Mosaic* (dial up the web's 'way back machine').
Posted by: Scott at September 19, 2005 09:43 AMTrue to form, I got a call from Michelle late yesterday afternoon. She was giving Timothy a bath. Evidently he decided that toothpaste could be used as a hair gel. I'm telling you, if you don't know where he is at all times, stop what you're doing and go look for him.
Posted by: Scott at September 20, 2005 06:05 AMDid Claire receive her birthday mail from us yet? Tom mailed it on Thursday. Just wondering.

Hi Lyss,
Yes, she got it Saturday -- quick turnaround, eh?! I would have told you by phone but we haven't spoken in days... Hope all is well. Hope you had fun at The Dunes.
Today's Michelle call regarding Timothy is that he's figured out how to use the handle on the door to the wood stove. There are some times when a parent just has to say no.
