Old Man - Given that our semi-famous New Hampshire Old Man of the Mountain collapsed a couple of years ago (May 2003), how much does this old stamp have to be worth these days? There has since been an effort to release a new commemorative postal stamp. The "Old Man" is already on the back of the NH quarters. His symbol is almost overused in this area. Street signs, highway tokens, etc. Where will it end? If I ever succumbed to getting a tattoo, his image might be cool. ;-) Here's a great quote attributed to Daniel Webster regarding the "Old Man":
“Men hang out signs indicative of their respective trades; shoe makers hang out a gigantic shoe; watchmakers a monster watch. But up in the mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty Himself has hung a sign to show that here in New Hampshire, He makes men.”
Scheduling - Tonight will be a bit tight in terms of coordination. I pick up Claire from piano lessons at 6:30. At 6:45 she'll come with me as I attend a meeting about Abby's preparation for First Confession. I don't know any dates for Abby's big events this year (Confession and Communion) but might after tonight.
Pictures - We've finally had enough breaks of sunshine that I was able to take a few autumn pictures on my commute today. They won't be all that inspiring because this year the peak color fell during the time when we were fighting the flooding conditions. Nonetheless this is the month I most enjoy my drives to and from work. Autumn colors, sunroof open, stopping for pictures, listening to podcasts... It doesn't get much better for a commute. Soon enough I'll be brushing off the snow to come home from work.
We switched plans later in the day. I picked up Claire and brought her home. Michelle immediately rushed out the door to attend the meeting about Abby's first Confession preparation. So much for conserving gasoline. ;-) Abby's first Confession will be December 3rd. We still don't know the date in 2006 for her First Communion. Hopefully it won't conflict with Andy Roo's.

We don't know a First Communion date either, but Reconciliation will be in February. Hope you are all doing great! Lyssa
