Snow - I just drove into work a couple of hours ago. When I left the house it was chilly and partly cloudy. When I arrived at the office (36 miles south as the crow flies), it was snowing. I don't think it'll accumulate, but aren't we in April?
Yard Work - Last weekend after Mass and breakfast, I spent most of Sunday in the yard. First I dethatched the lawn, which was such a pain because things kept going wrong. I won't go into the details but it took about three times as long as it should have due to various issues. Between the debris leftover from the winter and the dead grass pulled up by the dethatcher, the yard looked awful. Then I pulled out the sweeper. Man, that thing rocks! We ended up with large piles of dead grass, leaves, and twigs dumped into the border between our lawn and conservation area. While the lawn is far from lush and green, it looks worlds better now. I'd bet by Easter things really start to liven up.
Play - On Friday Michelle plans to join a group of families from the Souhegan Valley Family Connection on a trip to visit the Perpetual Motion Indoor Playground. It looks like it should be fun.
Boys - Yesterday Michelle checked out two local kindergartens in town for the twins for next fall. I think she wants to go with Moppets Nursery and Kindergarten on Elm Street. The three boys are also going for a developmental screening/assessment this Saturday. We're particularly interested in what they say about Timothy. He seems to be trying to talk but the phonetics come out garbled.
Driving - Last night I went direct from work to an Opus Dei meeting up in Bedford. The sad thing is that even though it's further away from my office than our house, it took less time to get there. It was 99% pure highway. *Sigh* Meanwhile I took yet another way into work today. I must know about a dozen variations now. This one was interesting because I got to go through a historic old New England covered bridge in Pepperell, MA. I also had to briefly stop on one of the backroads to let a flock of wild turkeys cross the road.
Abraham - Claire and I finally made it all the way through the TNT "made for TV" movie about Abraham. Brutal. It took three nights with about an hour each. It was like watching Gone with the Wind, or Ghandi, or… Still, I thought it was worthwhile. On the lighter side, today we should get the latest VeggieTales video: Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler. I'm bummed that we didn't get The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I want Michelle to see it. When we returned from seeing it at the theater several months ago, she just sighed and said, "ah well, I'll see it when it comes out on DVD."
Naked - By the way if you're wondering why things look so 1994 on the web site today, it's the (now) annual CSS naked day. On this day amateur web designers strip out their site's Cascading Style Sheets in promotion of good web standards where HTML content is separate from it's form (specified in a separate CSS file). I've embraced this separate 'HTML for structured content, CSS for layout' technique for years. Things will be back to normal tomorrow.
