Friday - Yesterday started off with a long dental visit. In addition to the usual cleaning, they did a thorough set of x-rays — 18 in all — scanning every tooth and all of the roots. I guess that every so many years they need to go beyond the routine set of x-rays. I wish instead I could have gone to Golds Gym that morning as I would otherwise. Meanwhile Michelle spent the day with the kids at Greenfield State Park to play at Otter Lake. The patience she has! My goodness! My day ran long as one of our group's major customers is approaching a major silicon fabrication deadline. I didn't get home till about 7:30. With our respective long days, Michelle and I took a break and went out for dinner at the Black Forest Cafe.
Saturday - Today continued the heating trend that started yesterday. Michelle and I wanted to get the lawn done early before it got too muggy. Afterwards I finally went to see Superman Returns with Claire. It was an almost perfect superhero movie. I just think that it could have done without the issues it had with marriage (or lack thereof) and children. Perhaps it was a necessary evil to keep the story consistent. Nevertheless there were a bunch of Christian themes in the movie. Does the world need a savior? The world denying it needs such a figure. Jor-El the father sending his son Kal-El (Superman) to redeem the good that is latent in humanity and be a light to the world. The 'killing' of superman. The hospital scene with its empty bed (not unlike Jesus' empty tomb). The struggles Clark/Superman faced amidst always trying to do The Right Thing. We both enjoyed it and had some good discussions on the drive home.
Claire and Abby each have a friend sleeping over tonight. It'll be fun getting them all to Mass tomorrow morning. After breakfast, I'm not sure what we'll end up doing. It's supposed to be even hotter tomorrow, so I'm fairly certain we'll be hunting for a pool.
