Fall Behind

Posted by Scott at 05:32 AM

Today is the Sunday of daylight savings time when we push our clocks back one hour. Thus, here it is 5am and Michelle and I have been awake for almost an hour. We let the kids stay up a little later last night, so hopefully they sleep in until 6.

We had a great visit with mom, dad, and grandma K. Michelle and the boys went with mom and dad to Parker's Maple Barn the day after they arrived. Sunday evening the grownups went to the Mile Away for Dinner. Tuesday I went to mom and dad to Weston, VT to visit the Weston Priory and the Vermont Country Store.

While I had taken the day off to go to Vermont, the ATI merger by AMD wrapped up. It's official. Now I work for AMD. No sooner had the ink dried when AMD announced the Fusion project where the processor and graphics engine are put on the same piece of silicon. Man! What a monster sized chip that will be!

Model IAs they often do, mom and dad did a little attic cleaning prior to visiting. They brought some memorabilia from my high school and college days. Michelle got a kick out of seeing me then. They also brought my first computer, the TRS-80 Model I. Abby and the boys have been having a great time typing away on its keyboard.

We were a bit sad when they left Friday morning. We had hoped they'd hang around a second weekend. With the rain we're having this weekend, it's probably for the best that they avoided the cabin fever of hanging around here.

As is common for a Friday night, the girls did sleepovers. Claire stayed at her friend's house and Abby had a friend over. So you could say we had conservation of children that night. Yesterday we took our kids plus one to have dinner at Smokey Bones and do a quick walk of the Pheasant Lane Mall. When we got home, the girls and I watched the last episode of Wonder Woman Season 1. While not quite as campy as the Batman series, I'm still amazed it lasted three seasons.

This morning will have the usual Mass and donuts. Later in the afternoon we're going to visit a family I haven't met before. Michelle met them months ago at the park. They have a son about year younger than Timothy who also has microtia. Somehow I wonder if Timothy is even aware of the difference in ears he has. Michael finally noticed Timothy's ear this week and said he has a "caterpillar" ear.
