Ho-hum

Ordinary Day - Michelle, the kids, and I did a little bit of shopping this morning. Nothing too exotic: the local dollar store, the book store, and a Brooks pharmacy. Afterwards we picked up some BK on the drive home. Michelle generously allowed me to nap and my body overdid it, napping for almost 3 hours! I just wanted an hour or so to take the edge off. Afterwards we each ran some more errands. Christmas time adds so many little to-dos that you want to get done to show your love for friends and family. I enjoy it but it can become a distraction from the spiritual preparation we should also be doing.

New Restaurant - Since the girls were out at dinnertime, Michelle made a simple dinner for the boys while we decided to try some seafood at the newly opened Milford Fish Market. We were both underwhelmed. It wasn't that the seafood tasted bad or fishy. It was just sooo plain. We noticed that around here. Some restaurants seem allergic to seasoning. I had a baked cut of haddock and that's exactly what it was. No more, no less. No breadcrumbs, no seasoning that I could taste. Just a white fillet with a side of fries and slaw. Michelle found her seafood wrap to be equally restrained. It was a letdown for us because we've been watching them work on this restaurant for many months now and it had only opened a few weeks ago.

Snow tires - I've been doing a lot of research on snow tires. I've never bought separate snow tires before. Being that I work just under 50 miles from home and spend about 35 of that on lesser back roads, I thought I might want to invest in a set for this winter. From what I've read, it seems that modern technology has made studless snow tires about as effective (and in certain cases better) as the old standby of studded snow tires. I did check to see what the time constraints were in Massachusetts for studded tires, but I don't think I'll go that route.

Movie - Michelle and I watched Johnny Mnemonic this weekend. I ordered it predominantly because Michelle enjoys Keanu Reeves in things like A Walk in the Clouds (her favorite), Speed, The Devil's Advocate, The Matrix, and even Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. It was okay, a little like Blade Runner to me. I think we computer people always find it too hard to suspend disbelief when we see these futuristic computer interfaces. Keanu entering into his hacked brain was about as believable as Tron. Have you ever noticed that in Netflix's rating scheme, it's only "hated it", "didn't like it", "liked it", "really liked it", and "loved it". I want a 2 1/2 star input for "ehh, it wasn't a complete waste of my time".
