Dropped Claire & her friends off at school. Had a smooth commute in. Listened to Pope B16 in "Christ the Lord" discuss John's gospel.
Reading and liking "Church is not Wal-Mart". (related link) Warning: clergy with a vertebrate writing. [Hat tip to Jeff Miller]
A text message sent just as I arrived at work finally made it. I'm pretty sure it was my bogged server that caused the slowdown. Oh well.
When Gwen Ifill moderated a debate, we were reassured it was "the questions, not the questioner". Now when Joe the Plumber asks a question..
Overcast, rainy commute home. Listened to TWiT #165 along the way. (related link) The boys seem to be full of energy as I walked in.
Prepped one last time before RCIA tomorrow night. Told the girls a Sarah Pallin joke before they went to bed. (related link)
For those wondering who Gwen Ifill is, she was the moderator of the vice presidential debate on October 2nd. At that time there was concern about her asking the questions because she has a book "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama" scheduled to be published on Inauguration day 2009. With someone who has a vested interest in seeing her book sales do well, it was hard to believe at the time that she'd be a fair moderator. We were told to focus on the questions, not the person asking them.
Now that "Joe the Plumber" has come into political dialog, the focus has been shifting from *what his question was* to attacking the person who asked them, digging deep into his personal life: his job qualifications, his back taxes, his divorce, whether he's in the union, etc. If you watch recent news, we know more about Joe than we do about Bill Ayers. Evidently a common citizen can ask a question that the news media would never pose. This can not stand. He must be destroyed personally and discredited.

Could you send me an email. I have a question I would like to ask but do not know if this is the right place.
Thanks
Hi Connie,
If you're real, ask the question here. The above comment is so vague it sounds like spam or email harvesting.
Posted by: Scott at October 22, 2008 06:48 PMWow! Spammers on Bilikfamily.....Curious to see if you get a response.
Posted by: Chris at October 22, 2008 08:31 PMHi Chris,
Actually, after further digging, I think Connie is a real person. Analyzing my server logs it appear she found me using Safari on a Mac from here:

where I'd posted a few days ago. The comment was so vague it sounded like a phishing scam, didn't it?
Connie, if you have a questions about something I posted at that site, go ahead and ask here.
