Good morning! The seven kids are slowly waking up, as am I. I hear the sounds of "Curious George" downstairs. I need my wake up shower and coffee STAT!
It looks like the office laptop's Ubuntu update completed overnight without any hiccups. No time to dig around in it now. Time to reboot back into Windows XP, VPN/NX into work, and get down to business.
Ain't it funny how the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker always falls on May Day? It's almost like it was planned as a response or somethin'. ;-P.
Never cease to be amazed at how far we've come in tech. My phone is playing one source of audio while downloading another in the background over the cell network at around 70-80KBytes/second.
Michelle & I took the seven kids to Milford's Cafe on the Oval for lunch. Spread among four tables, we "owned" a corner of the diner.
Using branches and dried grass from when I dethatched the lawn, the girls have made two small "houses" in our conservation land. Perhaps I should consider them as thatched roof tipis.
Our girls had two friends sleep overnight. Claire went with me as I took them to meet their mom "half way". It was just nice to get away from the desk for a while. En route I tried to explain to Claire what a clutch does in a manual transmission, but I'm pretty sure I didn't do too well.
Corporate IT blocks IRC. I can understand that. Installed an IRC client on my phone. Useful when you want to monitor uStream.tv chat.
Are you tired of lugging those paper Bibles around? Do you need technology for technology's sake? Then you definitely need The iBible! (related link)
Loving people's nicknames for the H1N1 virus. (related link) Hamthrax, Porkinsons, Chorizo Fever, Hamdemic, Aporkalypse, Hamaggedon.
Watching 'The Iron Giant' with the kids. Also saddened to learn that one of the 'babes' of my college years, Kelly McGillis, is now batting for the other team.
That Linux OS update I did last night seemed to really make the laptop crawl. Did some research on The Internets(tm). In the end I just nuked the "xorg.conf" configuration file leftover from the previous revision and let the system build a new one from scratch. Seems to have helped a lot.
