Woke up and watched the video, "Your Dad Asks Computer Questions". (related link) It's actually more like my late grandfather, but it's funny nonetheless.
Rainy commute in. I know it's not brand new technology, but I'm (easily) impressed that my phone downloaded the Wall Street Journal "Morning Read" audio podcast over the air while waiting in the driveway to take the girls to school. The line between computer and phone blurs more each year. Listened to the program during the commute.
Reading "Build a $500 Gaming PC" (related link) Hint: use an AMD Athlon X2 7850 + ATI Radeon HD 4770.
Going to be working the next few days on a Perl script to convert some of our diagnostic tests to be big endian. (related link) Few things drive me as crazy as endian concerns. It's beyond boring.
Seen on The Internets and makin' the geek in me smile: "I have a Perl hammer and I'm not afraid to use it!"
Back from RCIA. Discussed "the problem of evil" and also the struggle of loving when it seems impossible. Only two sessions left this year.
Fixed a software bug in my website software relating to character encoding. Yet another in the many boring sides of computer work. Hopefully funky symbols in words like Frère Jacques, Mañana, and 59°F/15°C will work tomorrow.
Hoping tomorrow is a less nerdy day. I spent only an hour or less at home while the kids were awake so I don't have a lot of news about what's going on at the home front. Tomorrow is a work from home day. Should be better.
