Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Hey folks, ready to start another work/school week? Ours started on a gross foot. Michelle and I removed a fully embedded tic from Jingle. Usually Abby keeps on careful eye on him, but somehow she missed this one. Bleah! BLEAH! 6:04am

Relieved! I just dropped the last of the kids off at school when I got a call from my dad. I knew my mom went to the hospital in an ambulance last night. Now we know that it is "just" a kidney stone. With mom battling cancer, I feared worse. 8:59am

Michelle went to Timothy's parent-teacher conference mtg and then head to Merrimack to teach her Step class. I'm home VPN'd into work for the day. 9:45am

New spark module installed in stove, check. Now, small but worrisome watermark on kitchen ceiling just below an upstairs bath tub. Suspect a pipe is dripping a bit. sigh It's always somethin', isn't it? On the bright side I'm providing more job stimulus than Congress and the President. 4:17pm

Back from a good albeit muggy Step class at Golds. Eager for some re-heated dinner, Sloppy Joes! 6:53pm

Back from an Opus Dei Circle. Feeling very sleepy. Good night all! 9:57pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Camera shop in downtown closing down - NashuaTelegraph.com
Comment: My dad will be sad to read this. CameraLand is closing down. I bought my Nikon 35mm SLR (the one he now has) there. I later bought my Nikon Coolpix prosumer camera there. *sniff*

Bailout Ben - Home
Comment: Laughing my behind off: "Want to drop $$$$ out of a helicopter to rescue the economy? There's an app for that!" Is there no concept program someone hasn't ported to the iPhone.
Excerpt: Bailout Ben (aka Helicopter Benny), the intrepid pilot of Bail Force One, is on a mission to engineer the biggest bailout in the history of the universe!Benny's helicopter is flying lower and lower, and if he doesn't bail out every single company he will crash & burn!

Brussels says churches must lift ban on employing homosexuals | World news | The Observer
Comment: Waiting to hear from the usually shrill "separation of Church 'n State" crowd...
Excerpt: The government is being forced by the European commission to rip up controversial exemptions that allow church bodies to refuse to employ homosexual staff

Cable failure cuts Milford-area Internet
Comment: You can imagine my panic when I saw this. Luckily for me, while they *say* cable, they don't mean Comcast cable broadband. They mean the cable for DSL users. Another FairPoint success story... ;-P
Excerpt: MILFORD– A failed coaxial cable in the central office on South Street of Milford has cut high-speed Internet access for hundreds of customers throughout the Milford area.

Radium Updated
Comment: Yeah! An update to Radium (for MacOS) has just been released. This past week Sirius/XM changed their Internet protocol slightly and Radium couldn't stream their channels. Now fixed. Happily listening in again at my desk...
Excerpt: Radium is an Internet Radio player for Mac OS X Leopard (10.5+) and later. It sits in your menu bar and stays out of your way. Mouse over for a screenshot .

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 To Launch On AT&T Only
Comment: *sigh* One of the best smart phones to use our new SnapDragon processor, and it's going to be on ... AT&T. Luckily there are plenty of good SnapDragon based phones in the near term pipeline...
Excerpt: AT&T has apparently managed to get yet another exclusive after Apple's iPhone as Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 spec sheet shows that the smartphone will only support AT&T's network.
