Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas celebration. I'm browsing audible.com, listening to book samples. I'm considering Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" and/or Niven & Pournelle's "Lucifer's Hammer". If anyone has read either, give me an opinion. At the moment the only thing scaring me off is that they're each ~24 hours long and I'm already behind on my current tome, "Cryptonomicon". 6:26am

Back from a great intermediate level Step & abs class at Golds. Michelle has been playing PayDay with the boys. Time to start thinking about where to have some lunch and maybe hit the swimming pool. Will Michelle be brave enough to go swimming with her boys??? 11:08am

After folding yet another basket of the never ending laundry whites, RTFM for Audio Hijack Pro. I'm looking to do something akin to what some folks do with (related link) . 4:23pm

Michelle is playing Hasbro's "Operation" with Daniel and Timothy. Did you know this game dates back to 1962?! (related link) 5:07pm

Watched a lil' "Spiderman 2" with the boys after dinner. I'd almost forgotten what a good movie it was. Good night all! 8:38pm

What Doctors and Patients Have to Lose Under ObamaCare
Comment: A deeper look into what the increased regulation will do to our medical system, via its new incentive structures...
Excerpt: In The Wall Street Journal, Scott Gottlieb writes that changes to Medicare will give the feds control of medical practice.

Disturbing themes from the U.N. Climate Change Summit
Comment: I just find it odd that out of one side of his mouth Chavez demonizes capitalism, but then demands capitalism pay up. Outside on the streets demonstrators were chanting, "Save the planet. Smash the system. Stop global warming. Give us socialism".
Excerpt: Though world leaders [...] failed to meet their objective [...] to reduce global carbon emissions, the summit did produce two very disturbing themes: that capitalism is evil and that reducing the global population would be an effective means for saving the planet.
