Good morning! It's a mere 6°F on this 6th Day in the Octave of Christmas. I woke up a bit earlier than Michelle and offered up another rosary for her continued health. What are you doing today as we get close to the end of the decade?
Back from Mass. Michelle & the boys are heading to the Y so she can attend a Step & abs class. If IT resolved yesterday's issues, I'll be VPN'd into work after breakfast.
I'm not surprised at this time of year, but IT didn't resolve my tool licensing issue, so my vacation starts now. I had agreed last week that I would continue working until I hit a roadblock. Not being able to get a simulator license is a pretty big one. My boss agreed, so I'm logging out of the VPN until Monday and logging a vacation day instead.
That's it! I'm firing up our second wood stove! Perhaps between two working together...
From a recommendation of the crew at Hak5 I'm downloading "World of Goo" on the Wii for the boys.
Thank goodness! I dug up the "master user" credentials for our family email accounts. I was searching for about half an hour. I rarely login as the account manager and had lost the name and password.
We all enjoyed some take out dinner from Milanos. I was a bit bummed that I snapped the zipper handle on my favorite winter jacket -- a leather one given to me years ago by my father for Christmas.
Bookmarks I made today:
10 highest-income counties by median household income (2007)
Comment: [from Wikipedia] Highest household income is in the areas around Washington, DC?! Count me unshocked. No wonder government spending is considered stimulus.
Excerpt: 10 of the 20 counties are part of the Washington Metropolitan Area
Wise Advice from St. Francis de Sales for When People Question Your Motives
Comment: Just the excerpt from a St. Francis de Sales' classic book that I needed today. [Hat tip: Patrick Madrid Thanks, Patrick!]
Excerpt: "As soon as worldly people see that you wish to follow a devout life they aim a thousand darts of mockery and even detraction at you. The most malicious of them will slander your conversion as hypocrisy, bigotry, and trickery. . . .
MacRuby » Overview
Comment: Reading the overview and considering whether to kick the tires on this over the long weekend. If not, perhaps CamelBones -- a blend of Perl and Objective-C.
Excerpt: MacRuby is a unique blend of Ruby 1.9 and Objective-C. The goal of the MacRuby project is to be 100% compatible syntactically and behaviorally with Ruby 1.9.
Bing "Birds Eye View" of our house
Comment: Was trying out some of the features of Bing Maps. This shot was taken at a pretty barren time of year! Creepy how detailed it is for being as rural as we are. Note: requires Internet Exploder, Firefox, or Safari.
