Good morning! I dropped Abby off at middle school and had a smooth commute into the office, listening to my audio book along the way. It's still gloomy weather, but at least it's ~50°F so we still have no snow. The warm temperatures won't last though. Today is the last of the warm spell.
Highlights expected for today: Claire finishes with her temporary retainer, which looks like something from Invisalign, and gets her permanent retainer.
A feature I'd love to see on the Sirius/XM app: a minute of buffering with a TiVo-like instant replay button for those "Whoa! What did he just say?!" moments.
Three words: Kinect air guitar.
My favorite email provider, fastmail.fm, has rolled out versions of their site which look nice on mobile WebKit browsers (iOS, Android, webOS)
Wow! Even most of the UN climate delegates fell for the geeky old "Ban dihydrogen monoxide petition" (ie. H2O) trick. (related link)
Had a smooth drive north listening to more of my audio book. I went straight to Golds for the Step circuit class. When I left it was still raining. I believe that if we had not had such a warm spell, we would've had three feet of snow in these past few days.
“Walking on water and developing software from a specification are easy if both are frozen.” - Edward V Berard [So true!]
“I have always wished for my computer to be as easy to use as my telephone; my wish has come true because I can no longer figure out how to use my telephone.” - Bjarne Stroustrup
After dinner the boys and I watched the first half of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Since the boys have been playing Lego Indiana Jones on the Wii, they've expressed an interest in seeing the movies this game is based upon. Afterwards I got 'em tucked into bed with their prayers.
Besides Claire's new retainer, today was also significant because Michael finished his first ever serious chapter book: Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Capture It has so warmed my heart to see him put down the Nintendo for a while and enjoy a good book. He's got books 2 and 3 in the series. I hope he devours those similarly.
