Good morning! My last day of work for the year. And I just read that BYTE magazine is coming back. In the days when the personal computer was really getting traction, BYTE was a great magazine for the early adopter, techie crowd. I wonder if it can revive that legacy.
I dropped the girls off at school and briefly swung back to the house. I had this inspiration that I might need a power strip and an ethernet cable to setup my tower today. Normally I'd just bother our IT guys but he's on vacation today. And what do ya' know, when I got to the office I discovered that yes, I did need 'em.
Dear Diary, today I logged in and there weren't any unread work emails waiting for me. A first in my Qualcomm history. I'm starting to wonder if the Microsoft Exchange email server is down...
Well, got the new PC tower all setup physically. Unfortunately it looks like local IT, who is out today, didn't register it in the corporate network domain. So only Administrator can log in. There's no option to login as me. I'll have to wait until I get back next year... Back to working on my laptop today.
Went with a couple of the AMD Fusion guys for lunch at Il Forno in Acton. It was the second day in a row that I had Gnocchi for lunch, after not having it all year. Yum!
Remember: bad children get coal, good kids get solar panels. (related link)
Interested in one of these for my MacBook...
Wrapped up my year at the office with a few last bits o' debug. Head back to New Hampshire, listening first to today's readings & homily regarding the birth of John the Baptist and then to St. Francis de Sales in my audio book. I head straight to Golds Gym for tonight's muscle core class. Now that I'm home I tucked Timothy into bed with his prayers. Now to enjoy just a little bite of dinner. Michelle and the girls are watching another episode of Dr. Quinn. (obligatory quote: "Lady Doctor?!?!")
While I was leaving the gym, I scheduled my Jetta for a wash and hand wax next week while I'm on vacation. I had planned on having it done after the paint job from the collision repair had several weeks to dry and cure. Next week seems like a good time...
I was looking at Snickers again as I was getting ready for bed. It's been a few weeks now since his haircut. At first when it was cut, it was so dramatic he looked like (as my daughters called him) "Sheep-Cat". Now that it's been a while, things have a more natural look and his fur looks nice, even, and thick without being his usual "fluff bomb" self. With his toasted coconut fur coat and his inspiring blue eyes, he's probably the handsomest cat I've owned.
As far as I know, tomorrow is the first morning in some time where I won't have a pressing obligation. No Saturday gym class, no Sunday Mass, no weekday school drop off or commute to work. But for now, good night all!
