Good morning! A long snowstorm is expected to start soon. One to two feet by Thursday. The kids have the day off from school. Snow day! Most of Souhegan Valley has called it, while places like Nashua and eastward are calling early dismissals. I'd work from home but we have an interview candidate coming this morning. I'll probably head in, do my morning work and interview, and head home to wrap up the day from my home desk.
When I got to the office my boss sent me back home to work from there. But now I'm sitting at the Groton General Store waiting for a tow truck. My car ran over something -- a block of ice ? -- that ruined the oil pan.
My car is now safely back at my mechanic for several days. I'm working back home and now have a Ford Fusion for the next week or so. I'd been considering getting a protective skid plate installed on the bottom of my car because of things like this which are common in lower ground clearance sedans. My mechanic said since this wasn't a "bounce" type of incident but more of a drag/skid/scrape kind of thing, it's likely I still could've ruined things on the underside. We'll know more in a few days when it goes on the lift and the insurance adjuster and my mechanic discuss the extent of the damage and repair.
After an emotionally rough morning, thankful for a plow guy who came to do my driveway. I'll probably still do the edge work with a snow blower, but I'm sure it cut a lot off of my work tonight.
Wrapped up the night watching the rest of Tamara Drew. Interesting drama. The female lead, Gemma Arterton, is the same woman from 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' and 'Clash of the Titans'. The story wove together several plots threads well. I give it a 3 out of 5. Almost 4.
